Chapter 8: Fighting in the Magic Cave

Chapter 8: Fighting in the Magic Cave

The youth felt bound in some kind of operating table. He can not move, the world around him seemed to be spinning.

Turbulent bluster swept upon him, wave after wave.

Darkness twinkled in and out, light and shade alternately flashed by.

He vomited hard, his stomach was empty. Thinking of it, the youth hasn’t eaten for a long time.

Time seemed to have rewinded to an era of painful memories.

——The situation had never changed, only his anger was increasing.

“How is he?” In the mist, a voice sounded.

“Not good. The drugs has taken effect. But this kid was talking total nonsense before. Talking about his father, and at some time he was saying to exact revenge against a deity.” Another voice said.

“Revenge against a deity? This world has obviously no deity——”

No? You are wrong…..

In Arthur’s hazy awareness, his consciousness wanted to refute, but his brain was affected by the drugs. He felt overwhelmed, he can not speak.

There was only one deity left in this world. Kama, the controller of destiny.

In Kama’s seat, the deity was looking at the youth with a disdainful and contemptuous sneer.

The deity stretched his arms and ruthlessly and brutally took everything from the youth. After taking everything away, the deity continued to laugh at this weak and pitiful youth.

Why? Because of power you think you can do anything you want? Because of power, you think you can just bully the weak?

——–This deity can not be forgiven.

———This deity must absolutely be overcome!!!

“Ahhhhhhh!” Arthur woke up drenched in cold sweat. He glanced around and found himself still in the dark cell.

“Was that………a dream?” The cold stone room made him unable to sleep peacefully, perhaps this was the reason why he had a nightmare.

He wiped his eyes and found a drop of glittering tear. Perhaps it was not even a drop, perhaps it was not even a little tear, still it caused Arthur to sink into a daze.

——-Was this the tear of a dragon? Tear of remorse? Or tear of an avenger?

“This….how could this be?!” The youth’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had no feelings, he had no emotions, thus he could not cry.

“Hehe, don’t you have a great spirit?” A familiar voice interrupted the youth’s thoughts.

“Merlin?” Arthur turned around and instantly recognized the mysterious magi due to his voice.

The speaker was a raven on the windowsill. Under the glimmering of the moonlight, the bird’s dark shiny feathers issued out a magical light. The wizard was obviously controlling this bird with some kind of magic.

“I am busy with other things, thus I had inform you using magic.” The crow croaked, it spoke in fragments but Arthur unexpectedly still understood, “ There is a powerful photon reaction emancipating from you. Although I can’t find out what it is, but I believe it is some kind of an enchantment.”

“Oh, an enchantment?” Arthur said in disapproval.

Any force field that can bind magic photons within a certain range can be called an enchantment. This was a general statement, even the blade of a Light Sabre can be said as to be composed in enveloping layers of photons.

Merlin’s ambiguous explanation only confused Arthur even more without giving any help at all. Wizards were usually a self righteous and eccentric bunch, they knew the profound mysteries of magic and they believe that everyone else can clearly understood the hidden concepts also.

“What bothers me the most is that this enchantment does not absorb the photons from the surrounding environment, nor does it absorb photons from your body. This enchantment is completely made out of nothing. This is contrary to the principle of equal exchange, this violates the existant laws of physics. It is most likely…….a miracle.”

“Miracle?” Arthur was getting more confused.

“Anyway, it’s too early to tell. I’ll observe it for some time.” Merlin’s magic bird flapped its wings preparing to leave, “We’ll meet again…..”

“Wait a second……take me away from here…..” Arthur wanted to say something, but the bird had long flew away, “Rescue……”

Looking at the falling black feathers of the crow, Arthur sighed. He looked at the bandage wrapped around his body. The fight against the Cyclops was definitely not a dream.

“At least, I am alive.” The youth self comforted himself with a whisper.

“Is that something to be thankful for?” The masked man walked outside the dungeon and stopped in front of the cell. He left a moldy bread roll which he placed across the bars, “Tomorrow, there will be more cruel fighting waiting for you. You may die at any moment. How can you be so optimistic even saying the words ‘fortunately, I am still alive’?”

Arthur nibbled the bread and indifferently said, “Meh, in the end I will not give up. How can I die in this filthy place? I still have a dream to achieve.”

But in exchange, it rose the masked man’s cynicism, “Oh? You still have a dream? You do not even have feelings. You don’t even know fear. It seems you are not a person at all. You seemed to be a shell of a person and nothing more.”

—–An empty shell without a soul.

“No.” He loudly denied. He swallowed the bread a few times while his nose endured its musty smell. “Its just……”

“Just what?!”

“Just…..they were taken away……taken….” His tone gradually diminished.

No one would believe that his feelings and emotions were taken away by a deity. Explaining this to others is futile, he will be treated like a fool again.

The masked man looked at Arthur in disdain. From his mask, two eyes emancipated a dignified glow.

“When fighting the cyclops, did you experience the horror of death?” The masked man questioned.

“I….do not know.” Arthured muttered.

“Well weird guy. We’ll see how far you can go.” When the masked man finished, he turned away. But a thing dropped from his cloak and rolled towards the youth’s feet.

Arthur picked up that metal cylinder and took a look, He instantly understood it was a Light Sabre.

A green light burst upwards from the hilt making the youth a little relieved. This was a glow of hope within Arthur’s desperation.
