Chapter 7: Fierce Battle on the Nest of Devils

Chapter 7: Fierce Battle on the Nest of Devils

Half an hour later, the youth found himself in a cell.

The cell was wet and damp, full of mold and bacteria, the smell of blood, and bones that were scattered to the side. The person seemed to have died for quite some time, numerous disgusting bugs were crawling all over his bones.

Having without emotion, Arthur was not afraid of these things. But out of biological instincts of dislike, he shifted his body away and tried not to get close with those filthy things.

But he was unable to move such a distance, his body was restrained with thick, heavy chains. The chains issued a low metal ring on the rough, rusty surface which made the youth feel unpleasant.

The cell door opened, shaking off a lot of rust. The masked person was waiting outside the cell.

“Prepare, you are next to fight.” He threw an embroidered sturdy iron sword at the youth.

“……..with this?” The youth showed a dissatisfied face. This era was an age in which Light Sabres are used in battles everywhere. To think there were actually still people wielding an old, heavy, broken sword.

The masked masochist sinisterly sneered, he does not care about the life and death of the youth, “What is the point? Buying expensive Light Sabre for you kid to use, what if it gets broken?”

The youth reluctantly picked up the iron sword, he almost wanted to use this to attack the masked person but he knew it would be a meaningless stupid behaviour. He sighed and asked, “Opponent?”

“You’ll see soon enough.” The masked man pulled the chain, treating the youth like a farm animal.

He took the youth into a dark secluded corridor and they walked for some distance, unlocking the chains of the youth at the exit. Giving Arthur another harsh kick, he shove him into the arena.

This was a natural crystal cave turned into a horrifying death pit, the walls were covered with shards and column of sharp crystals, preventing fighters to climb the wall to escape. There were some shadows in the high platform above, Arthur knew that they were the VIPs and dignitaries watching the matches.

Suddenly been pushed into the arena of death, Arthur hadn’t fully stood up when the opposite iron fence opened. No, it was crushed by a behemoth standing behind the fence.

It was a monster never seen before by the youth, its whole body was like rotten meat, foul odor was spitting out of its mouth, it was without intelligence, and a murderous fierce light was emitted by its two bloody eyes.

“Ogre!” The youth recalled from an ancient book similar descriptions of this monster.

This was a freak monster even trickier to deal than a dragon. Because of their wisdom, dragons can not help but hesitate in crucial moments. Once they have been injured a few times, flaws will reveal in their movements.

However, Ogres were born to fight. They are monster bred for fighting, it will not get hurt nor tired, it will only kill until no one is left alive. They are a pure killing machine.

The youth weighed the iron sword in his hand, he knew that this rusty sword can not penetrate through the monster that was wrapped in strong muscles. On the other hand, the monster was clutching a weapon —— a huge hammer that can literally crush anything.

While the youth was pondering about the occasion, the monster had rushed towards him. It raised his hammer and swung it straight at the youth’s head!

Heng!!!

The youth dodged and easily stabbed his sword towards the monster’s belly, unluckily, it was stuck between the monster’s ribs. The monster did not even flinch and just swung the hammer even more fiercely.

In desperation, the youth abandoned the iron sword, stood up, and directly rolled to avoid this fatal blow.

Bang!!!

The hammer hit the ground, and the debris that flew upwards due to the impact drew a couple of bloodstains from the face of the youth. But they were insignificant minor injuries, Arthur did not mind and immediately hurried to get up.

The Ogre violently swung and the youth focused on dodging. Time and time again, he managed to avoid the monster’s offensive due to his agility.

On the high platform, in front of a magic mirror, two figures were looking at the youth within the pit of death.

“How is it? His skills are not bad right?” Asked a tall figure.

“I’ll watch to the end.” The other one was relatively short, but still had a majestic figure.

His voice just faded when Arthur within the death pit finally found a opportunity to counterattack.

He pretended to fall and lured the Ogre towards him.

The Ogre brazenly waved his heavy hammer thinking to be able to rid the youth. It knew not that this hot headedness assault lost him his center of gravity.

Seeing the time has come, Arthur kicked the Ogre’s toe with all his might. The Ogre completely lost his balance and head first crashed into a sharp stalagmite protruding from the ground.

As if nothing had happened, the youth stood up from the monster’s pool of blood, swept off the dust and blood from his body, and retrieved the iron sword.

He did not even twitch of such a bloody gruesome scene. He had experienced dangers and he had danced on the brink of death numerous times. What does this trivial outcome compare to?

“See? Strong like a monster.” The tall figure said again.

“Not like this.” The other figure poured cold water.

“Why not? Isn’t his fighting ability unquestionable?”

“The problem is not his combat capability. He was facing a legendary monster and there wass no weapon in his hand. In that dire situation, he was actually able to remain calm? He was able to easily win a gruesome battle without being unfazed? Is there no fear in his heart? Compared to the Ogre, this kid was more like the monster!!! People who had no fear in their heart will one day only embark themselves on the road of destruction. If he leads his men, how many soldiers would be buried along with him? Such a person can not be used.”

“Even if you say so…..” The tall figure still did not give up, “Let’s test him again. I do not believe that there is no fear in his heart. Maybe he’s just confident right?”

When Arthur had taken a breath, the iron gate of the pit of death opened again. Another monster walked outside, this giant monster looked without any weapon. It was not even wearing an armor, only wearing a weird helmet. A thin horizontal gap only marked its ugly iron helmet.

The youth sneered, “Not wearing even an armor but only a helmet. What is hidden inside that helmet?”

The opponent ran towards Arthur immediately.

The youth stood up and swiftly dodged, his sword cut down, intending to remove the giant’s head. But Just before the blade fell, the youth felt a burst of heat in his hands. He immediately dropped the iron sword and discovered that the sword’s metal had long melted into a pool of hot metal, sizzling on the ground.

“Sure enough.” Arthur retreated a few steps backwards, clutching his smoking hands, “Cyclops.”

Melting the iron sword was nothing for the cyclops. It has only one eye on the head, but that one magic eye has harnessed photons that glows in a very high heat and can melt metal into a liquid in a flash of light. If anyone was hit by his light, that person’s body will turn to coal and extinguished into ashes.

“Today, I am in luck, I have met a couple of rare animals.” The youth waved his fists at the monster, making a provocative action, “Come on, one-eyed monster. Can you even hit me?”

A blast of light blinded the surroundings as the youth slipped away. Two, three, dozens of light flashed as the youth nimbly escaped each one, however he was gradually becoming fatigued.

His physical strength has never been good no matter how many exercises he made up for it. His body as if cursed, was being rejected by the presence of photons. Being powerful was out of reach for him, only weakness would be beside him until forever.

The youth clearly understood his own weakness, he knew physical strength was his downfall. Thus rushing head first was never the solution to him.

——- He was better at outwitting his opponents, not suppressing them with brute force.

However, there was no weapon in his hand. Even that iron sword was totally useless. Before melee weapons could even get near, the cyclops would have melted them into a puddle of liquid.

—- When people are in desperate straits, wisdom do not necessarily work.

What should I do? What should I do? Will my life end here? My dreams, my hopes, none have I achieve yet, would it all end here?

What should I do? What should I do? Would I die in a place no one knows? No one care if he dies, no one will miss him. There is nothingness, it’s like he never existed. Who is willing to die in this kind of death?

“Just kidding……..” The youth whispered. Then, the sound of pent-up anger for many years burst outwards, “How can I die in this place? Impossible!!!”

When the cyclops saw the youth stopped, it instantly took aim. The one eye within his helmet began to radiate with blood-red light, behind was a powerful attacking force.

“Hahahahaha!!!!” The youth suddenly laughed maniacally, and picking up a stone he threw it towards the cyclops, “Go to hell——!!!”

—— What he needs was just a little luck.

The rock arced in an exquisite parabola, and unreasonably hit within the little seam on the giant’s helmet and was dead stuck.

The piece of stone that the youth threw was not an ordinary stone. It was a small piece of what was left of the iron sword.

That piece of scrap metal was stuck in the giants helmet and head-on met the cyclops glowing hot light. Because of the near distance it was struck by the hot light, the scrap iron instantaneously expanded, vaporized and triggered a huge explosion.

Boom!!!!!

The cyclop’s head was blown upwards as a wave of the huge explosion blew the youth backwards. And various iron pieces from the helmet whipped like bullets towards the youth. While midair, Arthur immediately made a defensive posture, a bit late and those fragments would have ripped apart his internal organs into shreds!

Arthur’s body hit the stone wall heavily, and he lost consciousness.

“Eh? This is a huge joke.” The two high profiled figures all turned around and yelled, “Notify the medical team right away!”

“This is indeed a joke.” One of the figure said as he calmly watching the youth.

Because, he clearly saw parts of the debris unnaturally avoided and made an orbit in order to avoid scratching the youth. Thus the youth was particularly not hurt.

“Isn’t this kid really lucky?”

Was it really just luck?

Or the moment when the debris was about to hit him, did the youth himself distorted fate? Did he change his destiny? Did he make the impossible become possible?
